Since 1939
Together, we are “fm.” Our rings — like those of a tree — are a testament to our stability, growth and experience. If we included all the rings we have earned thru the years, the result would make you dizzy.
Our Privilege
The tree is a great gift from God to mankind, and what we do places the full beauty of its creation on display. We count it a privilege to honor our Creator in the work that we do.
Our Values
-
Integrity
Integrity is our most revered value because without it, there is no opportunity to build trust; without trust, there is no opportunity to build relationship; valued relationships are essential to working together effectively.
-
Quality
Quality is where integrity meets skill. The true value of something can only be judged when it's put to use. To borrow a phrase from renowned architect Mies van der Rohe, we agree that "God is in the details.”
-
Innovation
Innovation is only possible when it produces efficiency. We don't look to reinvent the proverbial wheel, we want to make the wheel more efficient. Many times innovation is simple, not complicated. Albert Einstein said “You can’t solve a problem on the same level that it was created. You have to rise above it to the next level.” Thomas Edison said it this way: “There’s a way to do it better – find it.” That has been our constant mission across more than 80 years.
-
Loyalty
Loyalty is earned, built on trust and respect for others. As a part of a community that relies on effective teamwork to succeed, we focus on not only being an effective team player, but also a partner with our customers, our vendors, as well as our co-workers.
Some History
Federal Millwork was but a dream for a young boat carpenter, Paul Ziebart, until his friend, Broward County Sheriff, Walter Clark, weighed in as his silent partner. A small parcel of land was purchased on the east side of Federal Highway, just nine blocks south of state road 84. As the story goes, on Thanksgiving Day, Paul and his three-year old son, arrived at the site and dug the original foundation. Paul continued construction on nights and weekends. After working at his day job for Broward Marine, he would drive to Dania, load up his truck with silica sand, and drive to Oakland Park where he would make his own concrete blocks. His dream was becoming a reality.
Now, more than 80 years later, having grown into a 40,000 square foot single story facility, one could find buried inside the walls of the existing facility part of the original structure built so many years ago. With operations housed under one roof, we have the opportunity to work very closely with our team to ensure that nothing is lost in transition from the drawing board to manufacturing.
We invite you to visit our Showroom where you will find six curated collections of moldings featuring base, casing, chair rail, panel molding and crown, along with samples of more than 3,500 molding profiles. We would enjoy discussing your next custom project, and assisting you in the selection of materials including textures, species and even finishes.
